The Group is the largest player in the plantation industry in Sri Lanka , managing and having effective control over two large, publicly listed companies, Kegalle Plantations Ltd. and Maskeliya Plantations Ltd., as well as other smaller subsidiaries. The sector employs over 24,000 persons covering tea rubber and coconut crops to an extent of 13,000 hectares, producing approximately 13 million kg of tea, 6 million kg of rubber and over 1 million kg of coconut annually. ARPICO also owns and operates the biggest rubber plantations in Sri Lanka . The company uses 100% all-natural latex from its own rubber plantations. Modern and sophisticated latex centrifuging facilities are available at the plantations and high quality centrifuged latex and latex crepes are produced. The Company expanded into a new joint venture with a Netherlands-based company to produce and export rubber wood furniture. In keeping with environmental guidelines, the Company has formulated a five-year forest management plan for the sustainable management of forest plantation blocks and harvestable timber extents
